Using Dictionaries in Junk Journaling
One of the best sources for Junk Journal supplies is thrift stores. 😉 Quite often people donate partial boxes of stationary, games with cards, partial spools of ribbon… pretty much anything you can think of. We have a great Goodwill store the way home from the dentist. My husband jokes that is how he bribes me to go… lol Many thrift stores also have books. Tink Tip When you are thrift store shopping, remember to look at the used books, but not just ones with pictures. I have two wonderful vintage dictionaries I got from our local Goodwill. The older one – not sure of the year, maybe the 1940s?…

Vintage Penmanship Junk Journal Cards
I recently got a Silhouette Cameo 4 as a gift. I’m happy to say that I love it. I REALLY LOVE it. I’d been having hand problems, so being able to cut out ephemera without scissors has been wonderful. Anyway, as one does, I have been cutting out all the digital ephemera I have been collecting – both my designs and that of other designers. Here are a couple of Junk Journal cards I created using some of my ATC cards. NOTE – I did resize them so I could cut them out on my Silhouette. This year I have been making a LOT of ephemera based on the 3″x5″…

Trifold Grunge Junk Journals
OWLs – Junk Journal Gifts for friends Jeffrey and I have a couple of friends with whom we lunch once or twice a month. Shawn lives down the street from us and Lynn lives a couple of blocks away. We call ourselves the OWLs – Other Who Lunch 😉 Last week, I made these for the OWLS. I’m calling them Tri-folds but would appreciate any better naming suggestions… Put any suggestions in the comments 😉 The subject matter is Owls and Crows 😉 The Owl and Crow images used are from my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/listing/849611988/halloween-owls-artist-trading-cards https://www.etsy.com/listing/863533079/halloween-crows-artist-trading-cards The Tri-folds were created in the 3″ x 5″ format I have been focused…

Field Notes Booklets – Tim Holtz Grunge Style
Field Notes Booklets I made eight of these and sent seven off to friends and family. This one went to a cousin, because the picture on the front reminded me of one of our aunts as a young woman. It isn’t her, but still… These were a lot of fun to make. Jeffrey did the stitching for me on our vintage Singer 401, a gift from my Baby Sisty, who also was sent one. 😉 I am currently working on a similar mass make of a triple fold tag, the first of which was used as the base in Memories of Mocha. I’ve focused on the 3 x 5 format…

Memories of Mocha Junk Journal
Memories of Mocha A very dear friend’s elderly dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. We are meeting our friend for lunch today and Jeffrey suggested I make something for her. It was a challenge because I only had four pictures of precious Mocha. Because of time constraints, I used folding tags I had already started. Anyway, here it is… NOTE – Stamps used are of my own design. @RubberStamps_com #stampwithus RUBBERSTAMPS.com Enjoy the Making 😉 IMPORTANT NOTE- Some of the links in this post may be Affiliate Links. The Mini Stitched Booklets are Ready
I initially wrote about the Mini Stitched Booklets concept here: https://junkjournalephemera.com/how-a-junk-journal-idea-starts/ The first of the Mini Stitched Booklets are ready to go to their new homes tomorrow. We have two good friends we eat lunch with about once a month, so they are the recipients. 😉 I decorated the envelopes last night. The Stencil Ephemera are for a new product I’m currently working on. The ones I had cut out and ready to use were a squinchy bit too big for the envelopes I had, hence the staggered layout. Thank goodness for Junk Journal forgiveness. 😉 Tink Tip – Punching a Cut-Out (Pun Intended) 😉 I used an UltraFine Sharpie…

How a Junk Journal Idea Starts
This is how an Idea starts… 😉 I watched a YouTube Video by LUISE HEINZL – JUNK JOURNAL ART @luiseheinzl She and a friend were working on projects inspired by a vintage Tim Holtz book – Tim Holtz Distressables 2, published in 2008. I was lucky enough to snag a used copy on Amazon. As I was paging thru the book, I spotted a cute idea on page 6 – Mini Stitched Booklets. That project called for a lot of supplies that are no longer available, but it was easy to see that I could modify the format I have been using for the #100DayChallenge – the 3×5 format with…

Junk Journal Ephemera Timesavers
One of the valuable things I have learned while participating in the #100DayChallenge… Prepare ephemera elements ahead of time, so you can grab them and assemble them, whenever you have a few minutes. In the box to the left, I have many 3 x 5 cards printed and prepped. I have rounded the two corners on each and sometimes, have even distressed the edges. (I tend to distress edges on Mondays when my best friend and I talk on Skype for an hour. 😉 In the plastic boxes I have many, many pre-cut whale tail tabs in many, many colors. This means I can sort out a few 3×5 cards…
