On My Worktable This Morning: Mother’s Day Junk Journal Ephemera

This morning, I’m working on something a little special—Mother’s Day junk journals for my cousins and my sister.

We have a daily chat where we check in at lunch time and bedtime 😉
There are four of us… and the other three are all Moms—and now, Grands.

So this felt like the perfect project to create something meaningful just for them.

Finding the Perfect Ephemera (Sometimes It’s Already Made!)

As I was looking through my pre-made ephemera stash (as one does… 😉), I came across these sweet 3×5 pieces—and happily, I had enough to include one in each journal.

The colors and images work beautifully together, and they fit perfectly with the soft, nostalgic feel I wanted for these Mother’s Day journals.

How I’m Using These in My Junk Journals

I’ll be hinging these pieces into the journals using my distressed tape—one of my favorite ways to add both function and a bit of vintage character.

They’ll act as little interactive elements that can be flipped, tucked, or simply enjoyed as focal points on the page.

A Small Observation from My Worktable

I’ve been going through my pre-made distressed tape pretty quickly lately, so I’ll need to make more soon.

But I noticed something interesting…

The tape sitting out on my dispenser has darkened more than the strips I had tucked away out of the light.

It’s a small thing—but if you like that aged look, it’s actually a useful trick to know!

Materials Used

If you’re interested in recreating something similar, these are the printables I used:

Final Thoughts

Sometimes the best pieces for a project aren’t the ones you make in the moment—but the ones you’ve already created and saved.

Having a stash of pre-made ephemera makes it so much easier to pull together something meaningful without starting from scratch every time.

And honestly… that’s part of the fun.

Go make something beautifully messy. 💛
